The map below shows the principal passenger train routes & key bus links in southern Africa.  Schedules, fares and how to buy tickets for most of these train routes (and some of the bus routes) can be found on the relevant page of this website.

The map is intended to help you make overland journeys around the region using the trains, so some minor train routes aren't shown, and not all bus routes are shown as there are many more (some duplicating the train routes).  'Cruise' trains such as Rovos Rail & Shongololo aren't shown here, just routes with regular scheduled trains.  There's a more detailed map of train routes within South Africa on the South Africa page.  If you really want to know every train, bus, route and station in this region, invest in a copy of the Thomas Cook Overseas Timetable.
