Passport checks at Copenhagen from 4 January 2016...

The Swedish government imposed border controls from 4 January onwards on everyone entering Sweden because of the refugee problem.  Direct Copenhagen-Stockholm trains were temporarily suspended but I'm glad to say they resumed again in March 2016, with passport checks for Stockholm-bound trains at Copenhagen.

Passport control is now carried in Copenhagen out before boarding and you are asked to arrive 30 minutes before departure.  The SJ2000 trains to Stockholm leave from platform 26 which has been set aside for these SJ2000 trains, it's accessed via platforms 5 & 6, a short walk beyond the regular platforms so don't turn up with only seconds to spare.  However, there are now fewer direct Copenhagen-Stockholm trains than there were, with other departures needing a change in Malmo.

There is no passport control in Stockholm when boarding a southbound Stockholm to Copenhagen train.

City centre to city centre with free WiFi and power sockets at all seats.  Introduced in 1990, SJ 2000 (formerly branded X 2000 and also known as X2) is Sweden's 200km/h (125mph) tilting high-speed train, operating on the Copenhagen-Malmo-Stockholm, Gothenburg-Stockholm & Stockholm-Oslo routes amongst others.  SJ2000s are fast, smooth and quiet, but you won't notice the train tilting unless you look carefully at the angle of the train compared to the scenery!
