Important update:  Introduction of border controls for Sweden from 4 January 2016...

From 4 January, Sweden's government will impose border controls for everyone entering Sweden because of the refugee problem.  This has made operation of direct Copenhagen-Stockholm trains impractical, so SJ will only operate them between Malmo & Stockholm - they will no longer extend across the Öresund bridge to & from Copenhagen.  So from 4 January you'll need to take an Öresund local train between Copenhagen & Malmö Central to connect with your chosen SJ2000 to or from Stockholm.   These Öresund trains run every 20 minutes, journey time from Copenhagen to Malmo Central is 66 minutes which includes 30 minutes border control at Copenhagen Airport station just before the Öresund Bridge, where you need to alight, go through a simple passport check and re-board.  Malmo to Stockholm by SJ2000 then takes only 4h28.  In the other direction, journey time from Malmo Central to Copenhagen is only 34 minutes by direct Öresund local train as there is no border control at present from Sweden into Denmark so no need to alight anywhere.  SJ hope to restore direct Copenhagen-Stockholm trains in due course.

GOOD NEWS:  SJ will restore direct Copenhagen-Stockholm trains from 1 March 2016.  Passport control will be carried out before boarding in Copenhagen, so you are asked to arrive 30 minutes before the departure of your train.  There remains no check-in requirement in Stockholm heading for Copenhagen.

City centre to city centre with internet available on board and laptop power sockets at every seat.  Introduced in 1990, SJ 2000 (formerly branded X 2000 and also known as X2) is Sweden's 200km/h (125mph) tilting high-speed train, operating on the Copenhagen-Malmo-Stockholm and Gothenburg-Stockholm routes amongst others.  SJ2000s are fast, smooth and quiet, but you won't notice the train tilting unless you look carefully at the angle of the train compared to the scenery!
