Copenhagen - Malmö - Gothenburg
Öresund trains (Øresundståg in Swedish) are the regional trains that operate every 20-30 minutes between Copenhagen, Kastrup (Copenhagen airport) and Malmö Central, over the impressive Öresund fixed link between Denmark & Sweden. One train per hour links Copenhagen & Malmö with Gothenburg Central. Originally jointly-run by DSB (Danish Railways) and SJ (Swedish Railways), from December 2022 the Öresund trains are operated by Transdev on behalf of the 6 Swedish regional transport authorities who jointly provide the service.
What are Öresund trains like?
The trains have 1st & 2nd class seats, toilets, power outlets at each seating bay, free WiFi & plenty of luggage space. Each unit consists of 3 cars, a train may consist of up to 3 units coupled together.

Travel tips
-
Tickets for Öresund trains have a fixed price, unlimited availability, good for any train that day. You can always just buy a ticket and hop on the next train. There are no advance-purchase fares, there's no advantage in buying a ticket in advance.
-
If using a German Railways (DB) through ticket to/from Germany & beyond, the Öresund part of the ticket is good for any Öresund train that day, not just the one specified on your ticket.
-
Seat reservation is optional, if you want a reserved seat you can add one when you buy a ticket at www.oresundstag.se.
On these trains only a third of the seats in 2nd class and half the seats in 1st class are available to reserve, the majority of seats are non-reservable and available to anyone, first-come, first-served.
Trains can get busy at commuter times, but there's not usually a problem finding a seat at other times of day.
-
If you don't have a seat reservation, sit in the right part of the train to avoid having to move.
You can sit in any seat you like in the non-reservable part of the train. You can also sit in any empty seat in the reservable part of the train, but if someone shows up with a reservation for that seat, you'll have to move.
See train seating plan, the reservable seats are shown in red, the non-reservable seats in blue.
Head for the non-reservable seats shown on the seat map in blue if you don't have a reservation!
-
There's no catering on Öresund trains so bring your own food & drink.
-
At Copenhagen, Öresund trains use the main platforms. At Malmö Central, Öresund trains use underground platforms 1 & 2.
