Vilnius' main station: Location map
Vilnius has one main central railway station, usually listed as plain Vilnius, and it's a pleasure to use. The original building of 1869 was flattened in 1945, the building you see today was opened in 1950 and beautifully renovated in 2023. The station is just 180m from Vilnius coach station (see walking map), a 1.1 km 14-minute walk from Vilnius Town Hall square (see walking map) and a 2.1 km 27-minute walk from Vilnius Cathedral (see walking map).

Main station entrance.
This is the beautiful main hall, taken through the sliding glass entrance doors from outside the building.
Left luggage lockers are in a room to the left. The ticket windows are visible on the right, under the LTG-Link sign.
The door to the VIP Lounge is out of shot to the right of the ticket office.
Go through the three sets of doors at the back to a second hall with a cafe, an exit onto platform 1, and escalators into the subway to platforms 2-5. Take a left turn beyond those doors and you'll find an Iki Express minimarket.
Which platform?
Lithuania uses the Polish-style system of numbering both platforms (peronas) and tracks (kelias) with different sets of numbers, where a platform can have a track each side of it. Departure screens in the main hall, on the platform and in the subway under the tracks will tell you the platform & track number for your train. The screens alternate between Lithuanian and English.
Platform 1, track 1 is next to the station building. The main trains to Riga, Tallinn and Warsaw normally leave from this platform/track.
A pedestrian subway leads to platforms 2, 3, 4 & 5. The subway has steps, but lifts are available if you have very heavy luggage or mobility issues.
Platform 1, track 1, usually the platform you want for trains to Warsaw, Riga, Tallinn. But always check the screens!

Left luggage
You'll find a room full of coin-operated lockers just off the main hall, see the luggage lockers page for prices. There are small, medium & large size. From the platform side, walk into the main hall and look right. Or walk into the main station entrance and turn left.
Tickets & information
The LTG-Link ticket office is in the main hall, on the right as you walk into the main entrance. Cash & cards accepted.
Food and drink
There are coffee, drink and snack vending machines and a cafe at the station.
There's an Iki Express minimarket in the east wing of the station, ideal for stocking up for a journey.

The VIP lounge at Vilnius station offers a peaceful environment with chairs, tables & free WiFi, with hot drinks & snacks to buy, open at all times the station is open (04:30-23:30). Hotels in Vilnius
Hotels are cheap by western standards, with good hotels often under £100. Here are several recommended ones within easy reach of the station:
Grotthuss Boutique Hotel (above): At the affordable end, the highly-rated Grotthuss Boutique Hotel is in a historic building on a medieval street in the old town, just 11 minutes walk from the station, see walking map. I found this hotel delightfully quirky, I had a large room with old-school comfort (above right), the exact opposite of all today's corporate chain hotels. The hotel has a small wine bar next to reception, a welcome feature!
Shakespeare Boutique Hotel: Or try the Shakespeare Boutique Hotel, housed in a renovated 17th century palace in the old town 50m from Cathedral Square, also with great reviews. It's a 26-minute walk from the station, you may want to take a taxi!
Astorija Hotel (above): At the more upmarket end, the Radisson Blu Royal Astorija Hotel gets great reviews and is just a 13 minute walk from the station, see walking map. A classic building dating from 1901, today the hotel comes complete with indoor swimming pool.
Relais & Châteaux Stikliai Hotel: The Relais & Châteaux Stikliai Hotel is also in the old town in a historic building with Baroque and Gothic features, 18 minutes walk from the station, see walking map.
