On the outskirts of Milan: Location map
Milan Rogoredo is a secondary station located 5 km southeast of Milan city centre, 7 km from Centrale, 5 km from Milan cathedral. Many high-speed trains call here en route to or from Milan Centrale or Milan Porta Garibaldi. A few EuroCity trains call here between Genoa & Switzerland when by-passing Milan Centrale, and from December 2022 the Nightjet sleeper train to and from Munich, Salzburg & Vienna will serve Milan Rogoredo, rather than Centrale or Porta Garibaldi. Rogoredo was originally a freight depot, only becoming a passenger station in the 1950s.

Option 1, by metro: Metro line M3 links Milan Rogoredo with Duomo (for Milan cathedral) & Milan Centrale.
Line M3 is coloured yellow on metro maps, Rogoredo is shown as Rogoredo FS, Milan Centrale is shown as Centrale FS (FS stands for Ferrovie dello Stato, State Railways). Trains run every 2-4 minutes, the overall journey time is around 20 minutes, the metro fare is around €2. For a metro map & information see www.atm.it.

Option 2, by suburban train: Trenitalia & Trenord local trains link Rogoredo & Centrale 2 or 3 times an hour, not always evenly spaced, journey time between 10 & 13 minutes. Fare €2 at the urban tariff. It's much less frequent than the metro, but you may prefer option this to going underground, especially if you have a Eurail or Interrail pass as this covers these trains.

Milan Rogoredo is a through station, with 8 main through platforms and 5 north-facing terminus platforms.

The main entrance and most facilities are on the west side of the tracks, see the photo below. A pedestrian underpass links the main concourse with platforms 2-8, platform 1 is adjacent to the station building with direct access from the concourse.

Which platform for your train?

Platforms 1-8 are the main through platforms, numbered 1 to 8 from west to east. High-speed trains usually use platforms 5-8.
Odd-numbered platforms handle trains going north towards Milan Centrale, Turin, Germany/Austria & Switzerland. Even-numbered platforms handle trains going south towards Genoa, Bologna, Florence & Rome.

Check your departure platform on your phone
Stay one step ahead! If you go to www.viaggiatreno.it/infomobilita/index.jsp on your phone and select Milano Rogoredo you'll see a list of departures with the planned platform number (Binario previsto) for Trenitalia trains (but not Italo trains) even before the actual platform (Binario reale) is announced on the station departure boards. Just remember that they can sometimes switch platforms on the day.

There is no left luggage facility at Rogoredo. Use the one at Milan Centrale instead, for prices & opening times see the left luggage page.

There is nothing particularly unsafe about any Italian station, but as in any busy place, be aware of the possibility of pickpockets.

The station has a Trenitalia ticket office (marked Biglietteria/Tickets) and an Italo ticket office.
Food & drink

L'Agristorante (see their Facebook page) is a good and relatively inexpensive Italian restaurant a 6 minute 450m walk from the station, see walking map. Open till late 7 days a week.

The All-American Diner (www.allamericandinermilano.it) is a 6-minute 450m walk from the station, open until late 7 days a week, see walking map.

Supermarket: There is also a supermarket inside the station (To.Market, www.tomarket.it) where you can stock up, open until 20:30 weekdays, 20:00 weekends.

Walking: It's a 5.4 km 1h07 walk from Milan Rogoredo to Milan cathedral and the beautiful 19th century shopping mall, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. It's a 7km 1h27 walk from Milan Rogoredo to Milan Centrale station. You might want to use the metro!
